I have toothpaste which is genetically customized to my oral biome. Supplements tailored to the genetic analysis done by Viome, a company to which I happily sent fecal, saliva and blood samples to in order to “discover all.” Of course this was the short cut to improved health, perfect weight and longevity.

Does it work? I have absolutely no idea. You see, that’s the rub. It costs a lot, you have to blindly commit for at least six months, during which time you will not notice even the smallest change. Heck – I didn’t notice anything wrong in the first place!! At the end of six months, you pay a lot of money again for another test. This could be the way of the future…or maybe a well thought-out marketing plan. In their defense, the Viome scientists likely have a vision…but we’re probably not there yet.

The same goes for home automation by the way. Microsoft sold me on the idea of the smart home in 2001. Lol. In 2026, Al my switches and outlets are connected to wifi…great! But is it? Thankfully, the wifi switches also have physical switches. Not so lucky with the outlets. I can start or stop my washer and dryer when I’m not in the house. But why would I ever do that?!
So all I’m saying is, think twice before rushing towards the future. There will be times when this can be a wonderful experience – internet, smart phones, AI. And there will be times (perhaps when your WiFi router hiccups) that you are likely to grit your teeth while you prepare to bring your house back online.
