Serenity

Today my one week vacation comes to an end and I will soon start my journey back to San Francisco.

It’s been heavenly. Good friends, a beautiful home base and a peaceful, nourishing routine. Stand-up paddle boarding for an hour each morning, followed each day by two curious seals. Yoga each afternoon with a bald eagle literally soaring overhead and blue herons in the water at the bottom of the garden.

As the tide moves in and out, the sandy beach and spit slither through the water, endlessly changing shape.

Working at home, I had almost forgotten that I hadn’t taken a vacation this year. We’re fooled into assuming that without an office, perhaps we don’t need or even deserve a break but I think the opposite is true. We need to be released from our routines, we should seek out new venues…all in order to refresh our spirit and minds…especially during these strange times.

While I’m sad this beautiful week is coming to an end, I’m grateful that I was able to experience it as I have.
