A couple of days ago, I hiked out of the Grand Canyon after a week on the river with friends. The hike was nine miles and 6,700 feet elevation gain. It was exhausting and rewarding…an accomplishment.
What an amazing week. After months and months of routine, commuting back and forth to Menlo Park, beholden to my phone and the demands of work, being on the river, riding the rapids, camping, hiking and making new friends was amazing. Such a simple existence. And no cell phone coverage at all…heaven.
Set up your tent on a wild beach, eat with the gang, early to bed and early to rise. A spot of breakfast and then into our dories to ride the river. Lunch time stop with hikes and back to the river. Find our new camp, set up the tent and repeat.
Such beauty. Peace. History. Geology. Excitement. Relaxation.
More to come…
