When one leaves a company, its natural to look back and assess whether the job was a success or rather whether YOU were a success. One considers the legacy one leaves behind, what you might have done differently, etc. Even when you leave a job on very good terms and for all the right reasons (say for example, to take a few months off and travel), its all too easy to be overly critical, look at things that were genuinely impossible at the time asking yourself why you didn’t “just” rise above that bit of craziness or push a little bit harder to try and change that.
Fact is, that bit of craziness (or at least the reality of that situation) is probably the reason you moved on. An imperfect fit. Recognizing those limits is a powerful thing.
